Definitively, our re-download link is NOT working right

…sort of like a self-appendectomy, us trying to test it has problems. But enough people have tried it and failed that we are sure it is most sincerely screwed. We are trying to find the problem.

If you need an updated file, write to me at cj@cherryh.com

Tried the re-download link again and for some reason it still wants me to go download Jerlayne, but the link itself goes to the 4 freebies, and then it says “Intruder – This product does not have any downloadable content”, presumably because I bought a hardcopy of Intruder.

For the record, I tried it now, and I got the email, but there were no download links. I purchased “Deliberations” on Monday.

sunsparc, e-mail me as cj@cherryh.com and I’ll get you a link that works. Tell me which you want, mini, mobi, epub.

    Got this in my e-mai-box:
    Product download links:

Empty is what the rest of the e-mail is.
I have downloaded the first and the second versions of Deliberations. I’ll mail you about getting the third, and final, version.
    Thank you.

I got one download link to Seeking North, but I’ve bought other ebooks in the past.

  • This afternoon, I was successful in downloading Netwalkers: Of Mentors and Mimitrons, Yvgenie, and Deliberations. I downloaded them in the epub format, and checked them on my eReader, a Sony PRS-950. They seem to be just fine and I had absolutely no trouble with the links in the email, they downloaded the files beautifully.

I hope that whatever glitches there were are now in the past and that you can smoothly transfer files to us.

    Great!
We are declaring a moratorium on fixes and updates of files until we collect ALL the fixes from various readers. Then we will compile a list, from e-mails sent to Jane, and we will get a final corrected copy.

We’ve learned a lot from the last upload.

  • Update, folks: The plugin people are officially puzzled. They’re looking into the problem as we speak. Please be patient and wait for your update. We’re getting new versions of all the files— I’m working on Faery Moon right now—getting the new covers on, new pdf formats, ToCs in those without, fonts…all the pretty stuff. Hopefully we’ll get this generator thing working and you can test it with all these new versions.

@Jane: Have you considered putting out a plain vanilla version of the books w/o the fancy fonts, etc. I would sell these at your current price. THEN, there would be the super deluxe edition to be sold a high premium, or perhaps auctioned to the highest bidder. There could be a limited number of these or as many as you wished to sell but they would be sold at quite a premium.

  • CJ

Ironically, creating a vanilla version would be as just about much problem as any other edition. One thing we WILL do, however, for a small extra charge, is still experimental: when you buy an e-book from us directly at a convention, we can embed a signed pic of you and us right into the book…talk about unique signed edition. It actually works. And we will be in Oklahoma City next June, just a heads-up for those of you in the central south.

What a cool idea! We need to get you out to the Boston area to Arisia again, or some other local con. Or, conversely, I need to get out to the west coast for something.
