Under the weather… I managed to sprain my foot getting off the city carousel, and the nice dinner (after grazing the green room for 3 days) turned out to be based on an onion reduction sauce. It was a beef mole, and they advertised it as 22 spices, a holiday type preparation, which I am very sure was grandmama’s recipe, beginning with, “take one bushel of onions and boil until they constitute one cup of sauce.’ Suffice it to say that I’ve taken every med I have and I’m still feeling the effcts of it. Also I have nearly lost my voice. I did a reading that contained a lot of Ilisidi dialogue, and I can say my voice was appropriate, at least. But I’d expected it to clear up fairly fast after leaving the hotel. Not so much.

I hope you feel better. (Off topic) I thought you’d like to see this picture taken on the International Space Station. does it remind you of any Characters in the Alliance?

It finally happened. You and Jane are so lucky. I am still in the closet.

The site is a press release on the first openly gay general officer.
That is so good. What a moment!
Ack! I hope you’re feeling better soon.
That photo would be an ideal book cover.
Hmm, I wonder if I can find a larger version, it’d make a nice desktop wallpaper too. (My current desktop image has been the final shuttle on the launchpad at night. It’s about time to change it.)
Two wondrous things:

A poem, “Blue,” by Stuart Atkinson, inspired by the photo.
Sorry to hear you are under the weather. Hopefully you are on the mend by now.
Eek, onions. I love onions. But I have a friend who has such a strong allergy they can kill him. soooo, I’ve been learning how to cook using leeks and shallots instead. It turns out that it isn’t the onion itself that he has allergies to, but the fine powder (which is actually a mold) between the layers.I’d never heard of an onion allergy until I met him, but then, I’d never heard of an Arugula allergy until I developed it. Turns out they’re both very common.
Take care and feel better.
Alas, we’re allergic to the whole lily family, garlic less than some. And we are particularly allergic to dried garlic and onion, because we are ALSO allergic to the preservative they use.
And we have some sensitivity to the nightshades, particularly tomatoes and their ilk, and potatoes, but not sweet potatoes—mostly because they make us ache. We can have them in moderation, and try to have them occasionally, in the hopes we can preserve our ability to have them—but we really cannot have them at every meal or we’ll be unable to get out of a chair.
