  Am I the only one whose teeth grind when she sees a (presumed) business-ish site use a word like ‘greetingzz’? Of course, after all his other bad behaviors, I may be biased.

  Someone should tip off Anthony Bourdain’s people. Seems like he is stealing from him too or at least attempting to.

  And he’s using Kenshin’s picture as his profile shot. Kenshin would not approve. (and here is where I just notice Kenshin has a live action version coming out soon. Cute, a gatling gun.)

  At the risk of stating the obvious, that link is through Lulu.com and lists yet another pirated book he’s claiming as his, when it’s by Anthony Bourdain.

  May I say too that his attempt to co-opt and besmirch the presumably good name of a 9th century scholar and musician is really low. I have no idea what the long-deceased man wrote or believed, but taking advantage of another’s name and potentially causing legitimate works to be taken down along with pirated works is, well, distasteful.

  If the pirate is a university student in fact, I would think the university would not look at all kindly on theft of intellectual property or plagiarism. If someone somewhere sanctions his behavior for some other reason, then that too should be brought to light with authorities who might be more moderate and reasonable.

  It has nothing to do with nationality or religion or politics and everything to do with honesty and integrity.

  I don’t mean to say that what a student does outside of classes and in his/her free time is any business of the school or university he/she attends. I’m all in favor of making an honest living selling goods and services. I’m very much in favor of liberal arts and technical skills.

  But if someone’s out there selling works as if they were his, stealing and repackaging, or making slight modifications (plagiarism), then isn’t it possibly, maybe likely, that it reflects his behavior in studies, in scholarship? It would certainly reflect on his behavior in business and personal dealings, and on his character. Or in my opinion, lack of character.

  My own education includes lots of liberal arts and some computer science and higher math. My professional and personal life have always blended those, heavy on the liberal arts. I value both the beaux arts and the technical skills. But those are best used to make an honest living and to improve this world somehow.

  If someone has a different ideology of how they think people should behave or believe, well, they are welcome to it, and an open discussion on all sides has real merit. Perhaps they might have something I hadn’t thought of, or perhaps I or others might have something they hadn’t thought of. (This presupposes all parties are willing to discuss with an open mind.)

  However, I don’t think this aspires to even that lofty a goal. I think the guy is just out for a quick buck any way he can. That seems like a terribly small-minded, short-sighted ideology.

  What a waste of time and effort. And it means some other deserving student didn’t get in. Pity, that.

  I don’t understand – he’s saying he’s the author, but you can plainly see these books are by other people. is he selling pirate versions ?????
